Hunyuan Tai Chi Qigong System
Over the last two decades, Hunyuan Tai Chi (Taiji) Qigong has been the fastest growing exercise practiced in mainland China and some western countries. It’s a complete system which represents the essence of traditional tai chi, qigong, Taoism teachings, Chinese medical theory and martial arts. The system is composed of internal power exercises, tai chi quan forms, weapons, push-hand and free sparring. Practicing Hunyuan Tai Chi Qigong is not only a healthy exercise, but also a process of learning ancient eastern philosophy and culture, and development of a positive lifestyle.
The Hunyuan system was created by Grandmaster Feng Zhiqiang. In his early life, he was trained by legendary Grandmaster Chen Fake, the 17th generation standard-bearer of Chen style tai chi, and qigong master Hu Yaozhen, a renowned practitioner of qigong and Xiyi-Liuhe Quan. After almost half a century of practice and research, Grandmaster Feng created the Hunyuan Tai Chi Qigong system which expresses the principle of qigong and tai chi which is now taught around the world. He said, “tai chi originated in China, but it belongs to the world.”
Benefits of Hunyuan Tai Chi Qigong
Yang Yang, a PhD in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois actively uses the Hunyuan Tai Chi curriculum researching the mechanisms and benefits of tai chi. He has reported the following results in scientific journals and academic conferences (www.centerfortaiji.com):
- Tai chi improves leg strength and force control. Although gym exercise or weight lifting can increase strength, only tai chi practice yields a simultaneous increase in the ability of adults to control force output.
- Two months of moderate Hunyuan Tai Chi training can help older adults perform as though 10 years younger in balance and lower body strength measurements.
- Vestibular function had improved significantly after six months of Hunyuan practice. Vestibular function is one of the three main mechanisms of blaance.
- Hunyuan practitioners have significantly improved immune response to flu vaccination.
- All tai chi participants in a six month randomised controlled study reported significantly enhanced, integrated mind-body connection, and significant positive psychological effects.
Those with a deeper understanding and continuous practice can experience the following benefits:
- Integration of body, mind and breath.
- Strong flow of Qi (internal energy).
- Even and deeper body breathing.
- Becoming humble, modest and capable of self-defense.
- Inner peace, positive attitude and healthy lifestyle.
