How to Boost Your Immune System and Prevent Illness in Winter

When I began writing this article, I wanted to address the upcoming season and its abundance of bringing disease along with it. I am living in Perth, Australia in which the  season is in autumn but heading into winter it is between April and May. The characteristics of the season now still has some summer heat whilst the autumn has also brought the cold. This is why the temperature in Perth varies quite often. When the winter comes in Perth, it is usually cold, windy and is abundant in rain. Going into winter, yang energy is getting weaker whilst the ying energy is getting stronger- it is during this time that Yang transforms to ying. It is because of this that during this season many people catch the flu, colds and viruses.

Many people in winter can catch the flu many times, as they have not completely recovered which may affect their health and job. Because having a flu, cold or virus can be spread very easily, it may effect a whole family or office. Having a cold for a very long time can cause many problems such as; pneumonia, asthma, kidney infection, urinary bladder infection and glandular fever. Catching either the flu, cold or virus can cause other illnesses to get worse for example having sinus infection, asthma, bronchitis and arthritis. This is why it is very necessary why I want to share my knowledge of how Chinese medicine and acupuncture greatly improve the immune system and how it can prevent illness.

The pain is most often throughout the day as well as when sleeping. Due to the numbness and the pain, it affects their arm, hand, shoulder and wrist movement. Usually western medicine prescribes tablets to combat the pain, but if this is unsuccessful an operation is usually suggested.
