Disharmonies of the Liver and associated symptoms

The main Liver disharmonies are Liver Qi stagnation, stasis of Liver blood, Liver Fire blazing upwards, Liver Wind agitating within, Damp-heat in the Liver and Gall bladder, stagnation of cold in the liver channel, deficiency of Liver-blood, Liver Yang rising.

Typical symptoms seen with Liver disharmonies are:

  • A feeling of distension of the ribcage and chest
  • Hypochondriac area (between ribs and stomach) pain and abdominal distension
  • Sighing
  • Depression
  • Moodiness
  • Nausea in the morning
  • Sour regurgitation
  • Constipation or diarrhoea (commonly seen as irritable bowel syndrome)
  • Feeling of a lump in the throat
  • Irregular periods and painful periods
  • Distension of breasts before periods
  • Pre-menstrual tension
  • Irritability
  • Clots in menstrual blood
  • Tinnitus
  • Temporal headache
  • Dizziness
  • Red face and eyes
  • Excessive dreams
